MIB, You’ve just gone too far (Article on Indian cricket team!)

A public apology is the least that we can expect from the captain and the other two stalwarts of the game, who have let down one of the most remarkable cricketing nations in the world! Of what has been a pathetic woeful display of irresponsibility, of what has been easily the worst performance ever by an Indian team at the World cup, the Indian team seems to learn, not even a hint of what we have seen again and again – shaky legs, withering courage and nail biting (literally, Rahul Dravid) under pressure from fear. Fear of what, I ask! Kapil Dev, the man who led India to it’s only World Cup victory once said “Its no use that a batsman has immense talent, what matters is, do you have the heart to go out there and play”. As hackneyed as it may seem, applies to the Indian team more than ever before as I write my comment in this state of growing rage and utter helplessness.

And now, the performance by the entire Indian team, which lacks everything except hefty paychecks, needs to be chlorinated with penalties for lost matches, punishments for underperformances and finally, a lesson that would tutor them how not to wilt like delicate flowers under the sun on the field! For God’s sake, you are sportsmen!

Look! What are those??… They look like chickens running with their heads cut off… oh I know! They are Indian fielders! And then they claim... claim to be one of the better teams! Trust me… you men in blue… if you still talk about winning… you are freakin morons!

In as much as what we have seen of you in the past few series, you have no honor! Honor is what we need more than coaches, more than practice sessions, more than the sponsor symbols on you jersey and bat. (Which was intended to hit the ball initially, but now has a different purpose! Talk about cricketing intelligence!).

Sachin Tendulkar… Now Sir, with all the respect due to you, it is high time for introspection and assess why you never perform when we need you the most. While it is understandable that you are not a machine and can’t dish out scintillating performances each time you are out there, it is perfectly sane to question your indescribable ability of not performing under crunch conditions! To add to your pathetic run of lackluster performances, I heard you, as you spat through your teeth, words of utter shamelessness, that you consider playing even in the next world cup! With all the politics that still keeps Ajit Agarkar in the team, one can only wish for a miracle, to believe India might win any world cup, or any cup in the future (unless we play Bermuda! I used to say Bangladesh!).

After all the emotional lows that we have gone through, there is absolutely nothing to be surprised about when this bunch of losers come out screaming with their noses red, that it was all the pressure that they succumbed to! Use that as an excuse till you die! I pity you, men in blue! For crying out loud, have mercy, if not honor! It is improper to think pressure caused this debacle, because you know that all we ask is for is proper entertainment! Had you lost like South Africa in 1999, we would have welcomed you liked Heroes!

It's just that I can’t simply understand! You’ve gone too far! Now, you need to reclaim your place in the hearts of the Indian people, that you have some concern, some resolve at the bottom of your hearts to cater to the expectations of a billion people who have you to look up to, in times of utter stress and distress. In this condition of downright shock, I am KO, God Luck! Coz I know only God can save us!

the problem is not only with cricket but with Indian fans as well. Every series and every tour out of sub-continent needs to be treated with equal respect. In south africa and west indies we got great hammering.

Greg chappel always wanted to experiment but never stopped. Physical fitness wise we are way back an that needs to be put in. Anyways India was never a favourite and less popular teams like Newzealnd will make this world cup much more happening...

Follow Soccer. Even club matches like EPL are fun :-)

Needless to say Kalyan has put down what we all have in our crying hearts.Another dissapointment from the Indian team.Such a big country with such a small performance!
Out in the first round itself. But what pricks more than the defeat is the attitude of the team.Sort of "contended cows".Whenever I look at those ads of Sachin or Dhoni I feel embarrased.kids ask them how they become so and so(what kinda so and so?) and they reveal the secret as the product. If such a product leads to such "consistent" performance,I wonder who would buy them. These guys lack consistency therby raising a doubt in our minds if they really have the skill or is it jus the luck that always defines our victory.Ads should say...
Eat blah blah to be lucky me
or drink this to be someone sometime..or may be much vague perhaps !Pathetic.
Look at the attitude of Aussies, they fight like LIONS.They fight TO WIN.But when a blue batsman enters the field, look into his eyes..either you find a fear accepting the defeat or a courage that prays for LUCK.But not the eyes that speak the game!We don't have any more expectations from you.Even if you loose to Bermuda we accept it.
And to those fans who plan to stone plet their houses, the best we can do to them is ignore them.
Kaushal.

Pen is mightier than a Sword.
Your article puts into words the pent up anger, disappointment and a sense of being cheated of most cricket lovers. I say cricket lovers and not Indian cricket lovers, because the dismal performance of the Indian team can put to shame even a first time watcher of the game. Many may be the reasons for the inefficacy of the Indian team: lack of confidence, too much time spent as brand ambassadors than as cricketers and so on and so forth. What our team and the team makers do about this remains to be seen. Lets hope that this has been a part of the win some loose some rule of any game; but again, a washout performance like this was unexpected. We hope to see great matches from you, you don't have to win all but at least TRY.

Though I am not a devoted follower of cricket myself, I live and have lived amongst cricket fanatics. The rage and emotional outburst of our countrymen crosses boundaries (which, I wish the balls hit by our batsmen ever so often did) when they get physically abusive. Burning effigies, pelting stones, eggs, rotten tomatoes and god knows what else is unwarranted. It also puts our nation as a whole under bad light globally. Things like this are shown on funniest videos, becomes a 'Bit' for talk show hosts and comedians to rake up some laughs, and we become a nation with no emotional inhibitions.

Lets all pray and hope for a stronger, competitively spirited team and a self-restrained nation who would curtail their expression of emotions. Kudos to you, Kalyan, and many like you who uses Media and the Internet to express their feelings of elation or disappointment.

Kallu bhai ! That was a good article. I wouldn't even go that far and analyse this act of disgracefulness. I am way too impatient to do that.

Could this be the best time to do a pesticide commercial? Watch this video and imagine this for a pesticide commercial instead of pepsi and quench your anger for a minute. (DONT SAY ITS DEBATABLE SINCE PEPSI ITSELF HAS BEEN DECALRED TO HAVE PORTIONS OF PESTICIDE)

Utter failure of all sections..right from team selection till coaching etc ..We people expected Dravid & Chappell to bring back the charisma the team had for a brief(infact I wud say extented) period under Ganguly and Wright..But they have shattered all the hopes by taking it on the wrong direction to the other side. I wonder whether it is possible for BCCI to revitalise the team before the next series in Bangladesh.

pouring my frustration along with u ppl

RAMESH

(hey kalyan..that was a nice article..i am sure most indians wud hv felt the same way)
